Penn National Gaming announced the acquisition of HitPoint Studios, which they will use to build their own in-house game provider under the name Penn Game Studios

Jay Snowden, president & CEO of Penn, released a statement saying, “We are incredibly excited to be launching Penn Game Studios, which is another important step in our company’s evolution into the leading omnichannel provider of retail and interactive gaming, sports betting, and entertainment. We will now have the ability to create exclusive content for our audiences, further leverage the Barstool Sports brand and our database of 20 million Mychoice customers, and create cross-marketing opportunities with our brick and mortar facilities.”

HitPoint Studios

HitPoint is a game provider that was launched in 2008 and headquartered in Massachusetts. Their innovative team of developers has created more than fifty games for some of the largest publishers and brands in the industry, including Microsoft, EA/PopCap, Disney, Google, and NBCUniversal.

HitPoint ventured into iGaming with LuckyPoint – a platform that “combines the features of a complete, certified, and proven RGS with a social and skill-based gaming platform that enables developers to create both traditional casino games and the next generation of real-money games.”

LuckyPoint has developed over a dozen traditional slots and RNG-based skill games for online and land-based casinos.

Penn National Gaming

PNG has become a powerhouse in the online casino industry of Pennsylvania. The company operates DraftKings, Hollywood Casino, and BetMGM in PA and consistently finishes first among all operators in the state.

The company also owns several land-based casinos and the successful Barstool Sportsbook.

PNG reported Q1 revenue of $1.27 billion in total revenue on March 2021.

By creating their own in-house game development team, PNG looks poised to bring more exclusive games and promotions the way DraftKings already does. PA players should look for exclusive online slots, branded table games, and regular promotions that can’t be found anywhere else.

The acquisition is expected to be finalized soon.
