Revenue records are in, a casino has been fined, and one online casino has wholly rebranded itself.
Read on to learn the latest news in Pennsylvania’s iGaming industry from this week.
March’s numbers are in from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, and they are staggering!
The PGCB reported that iGaming companies in the state took in $97.7 million in revenue during March, exceeding the $80.4 million record set in January 2021. YOY total revenue was up 292.4% from March 2020.
Penn National led the PA casino market with $33.6 million in revenue. Penn National is the parent company for BetMGM, Hollywood Casino, and DraftKings. Rivers Philadelphia, which includes PlaySugarHouse and BetRivers, was second with $27.1 million.
In 2019, Parx Online accidentally went live with two online slot games three days before Pennsylvania had officially legalized online casinos.
The two games, “Starburst” and “Total Meltdown,” were live for a total of 16 minutes.
Parx will pay fines and fees totaling $7,500 per the PGCB.
Churchill Downs Inc. has abandoned BetAmerica and replaced it with a brand-new TwinSpires platform this week.
The new platform hosts sports betting and an online casino. Churchill Downs is hoping this rebranding will give a boost after lagging behind nearly all their casino competitors the past 15 months.
Players who attempt to access the old BetAmerica site will be sent to the new TwinSpires platform and notice an instant change for the better. You will be greeted with a refreshing blue and white color scheme and brand new bonus offers.
PA players will know by now that when there is a new casino on the market, there are bound to be bigger and better bonuses available. And TwinSpires is no exception!
The new welcome package includes 24 hours of risk-free betting up to $500 + 250 free spins for the online slot Starburst! There are no wagering requirements attached to the free spins. The promo code for this bonus is FREEDAY.
Ongoing promos at TwinSpires include a free spins offer on their Slot of the Week (currently Dead or Alive) and a $20,000 Casino Leaderboard race.
